Pupil Premium
This is Mrs Spencer our Pupil Premium Champion. She is the main contact for parents regarding Pupil Premium.
Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government and allocated to schools to raise the attainment of pupils eligible for free school meals. This additional resource is used to reduce underlying inequalities which may be encountered during the child’s education. We look at each child as an individual and the support we implement is designed to each child’s specific needs and barriers. Each school has the autonomy to decide how these funds are allocated within the school year, however; transparency is of paramount importance and each school is required to clearly detail how the resource is spent alongside its impact on the students and their families. Specifically, schools are now obligated to outline the provisions provided online for each academic year. Ours are documented in the folders below.

Free School Meals
Parents claiming some benefits can claim free school meals for any of their children who are registered at a Staffordshire school and who would normally be at school at lunch time. School meals are a good way to ensure that your child eats well at lunchtime and you can save yourself time and money.
Even if you don't want your children to have the meals, claiming them helps their school. Did you know the government gives additional funding to schools for those children entitled to free school meals?
Schools use this money to obtain additional staff and resources that help improve the quality of education.
Free school meals for reception, year 1 and 2 children
If you have an infant age child (those in reception, year 1 or year 2) they will receive the government funded free school meals even if you don't meet the entitlement criteria and without completing an application for them. For more information contact the school.
You can also apply for the free school meals from the local authority which will entitle the school to the additional funding, Pupil Premium.
What is Pupil Premium?
For every pupil registered with us as eligible under the entitlement criteria, the school will receive extra funding. This is called Pupil Premium. It is used to help raise achievement levels.
Each school decides how to spend the funding. They must publish details of what they have spent it on and the impact it has had.
So that schools (and pupils) can continue to benefit from this extra funding it is important that parents who do meet the entitlement criteria continue to register their claim with us.
The following groups are eligible for pupil premium:
- Pupils who are recorded as eligible for free school meals, or have been recorded as eligible in the past 6 years, including eligible children of families who have no recourse to public funds (NRPF)
- Children looked after by local authorities, referred to as looked-after children
- Children previously looked after by a local authority or other state care, referred to as previously looked-after children
