Monday 20 January 2025 Year 6 Bikeability Year 6 children have been having the opportunity to learn all about bike safety and how to be safe on the roads. This is the next level up from when they did bikeability in Year 4. The children have been really good and have been learning how to be careful on the roads and to always be on the look out for road hazards especially when over taking parked cars. The trainers have been really pleased with their process. Great use of Torch Values - Respect, Tolerance, Ownership

Wednesday 15 January 2025 Year 5/6 Yoga Year 5/6 have started their yoga sessions this half term! They have really picked up the yoga poses and have been putting them into a yoga flow - where one pose flows into the next. We have also been learning about breathing and how to control our breath. We especially liked the Lion Breath and the Elephant Breath. Looking forward to moving into some partner yoga before the end of our half term.

Monday 13 January 2025 Year 5/6 Forest Schools There might have been frost on the ground and freezing temps across the country but we are all wrapped up warm outside doing forest schools! We even had hot chocolate around the campfire with Mrs Spencer! We were using our skills to whittle and to remember how to hold the tools correctly. We also had time to explore our forest school area and enjoy learning outside. We showed lots of our school Torch Values including Tolerance, ownership, cooperation and always happiness!

Monday 13 January 2025 Nursery Children Balance Bikes This week the Nursery children have been learning to use the balance bikes with our Sports coaches! They had great fun, learning all about how to put on their bike helmets and how to use the bikes properly. They used their listening skills really well and worked well as a team! Great Torch Values! Really looking forward to next week to see how much they progress!

Friday 10 January 2025 Torch "Tolerance" Children The first Torch awards of 2025! Congratulations to the children who have shown the school value of Tolerance. We heard how they understand that people are different and how they respect others views and opinions. We heard how they understand that they have to be tolerant in their own learning by taking advice to improve their work. The children have worked very hard and impressed their teachers. Well done!

Friday 10 January 2025 Year 1/2 Forest Schools It didn't matter that it was cold, we were all wrapped up and off we went to Forest schools! We had a great time exploring and we even had a story around the campfire! We played on the swing and in the mud too!!! Sorry moms..... We used all of our Torch Values - Tolerance - turn taking, Ownership - looking after the forest school, Respect - by listening to what Mrs Spencer told us to do, Cooperation - working together and of course Happiness! That's an easy one we had lots of fun, lots of laughter and smiles!

Friday 10 January 2025 Year 2 ICT using the iPads Year 2 have been learning how to create pictograms using the iPads this week! They worked in pairs and using their Torch Values of cooperation and respect as they worked and listened to one another. We had a super morning with Mrs Davies!

Friday 10 January 2025 Year 1/2 Gymnastics Year 1/2 have started their gymnastics topic for this half term. The children were thinking all about how different animals move. They then had a go at trying out some of their "animal" moves on the equipment! We had lots of fun!

Thursday 9 January 2025 Welcome to all our new Nursery children! We had some new children join us after Christmas and they have all settled in really well. They have made some new friends with the children who are already in our nursery and we had lots of fun playing inside and outside with all the toys.

Wednesday 8 January 2025 Holly Berries Early Morning Dancing Holly Berries our Before and After school club had great fun this week - they love to start the day off with their light up disco!! Out come the disco lights and the "tunes" and everyone is up and dancing! What a super way to start the day!! Wednesday 8 January 2025 Year 1 Music lessons with Mr Dean This term Mr Dean is working with Year 1! They have been learning all about how to use their beaters properly "like a magic wand" and they learnt how to play their first piece "My Dog has Fleas!" They are very excited about sharing all they learn this term with their parents at the Spring concert.

Tuesday 7 January 2025 Nursery Winter Walk The nursery children went on a lovely winter walk today to see what they could discover! They had great fun looking at the frost and the finding all the items on the winter list!

Tuesday 7 January 2025 Autism Inclusion Team Parents Workshop Today we were joined by the Autism Inclusion Team who put together a very informative parents' workshop. It was great to be joined by so many parents and it is definitely something we will look at running again.

Friday 20 December 2024 Rotary Child Award Autumn Term 2024 Well done to our Year 6 child who was awarded the Rotary Child Award for the Autumn term. She was chosen because she displays all of our Torch values every single day! Well done we are all very proud of you.

Thursday 19 December 2024 Santa Panto in School We had a brilliant day " Oh yes we did!" All the children had great fun watching the Santa Panto! There was lots of singing, dancing, jokes and even a water pistol!!! We had 3 shows so the children had enough room and that the show could be aimed at the children. Nursery and Reception children were first, followed by KS1 and then KS2 after lunch.

Thursday 19 December 2024 Animal Rescuers Advent Charity Collection We had a great response for our Advent charity collection for the Animal Rescuers of Lichfield, they support lots of small local animal charities. We collected animal food, bedding, toys and lots of towels and blankets.

Wednesday 18 December 2024 KS2 Christmas Carol concert 2024 Well done to all the KS2 children at their carol concerts today. They wowed us all with their beautiful singing, lovely clear reading and enthusiastic music making on their steel drums. Thank you to St John's Church and Matt Wallace the Vicar for hosting us all again this year and helping us to share some Christmas joy. Merry Christmas everyone!

Wednesday 18 December 2024 Holly Berries Snowball Fight!! Holly Berries staff decided that we might not have any real snow but that doesn't mean you can't have a snowball fight!!! So they used their imagination and the hall before school was filled with "snowballs!"

Tuesday 17 December 2024 Elfridges We had a great time today with our Secret Santa shop "Elfridges" being open for all the children to get presents for their loved ones! We also had the grotto ready for Santa and the Elves delivered a personalised Christmas decoration for each child in school.

Tuesday 17 December 2024 Santa school visits We had a very special visitor in school today! SANTA! The children were very, very excited! When he walked through the hall at lunchtime to say there was uproar would be putting it mildly! Santa told all the children that he knew they were on the good list and not to worry if they had done something unkind or naughty, that if they did something kind then it makes all the difference. The children all listened and told Santa they would leave out cookies for him and carrots for the reindeers. They all had a great time! Thank you Santa and see you again next year!!

Friday 13 December 2024 Reading Raffle extra winners Autumn Term To celebrate the end of term we had an extra special reading raffle! All the children who had read 5 times or more in a week were entered into an extra raffle draw. The winning children each received a free game of bowling. Well done everyone.

Friday 13 December 2024 Lichfield District Art Competition Well done to all the children who have entered the Lichfield District Art Competition. Here are just a few of the amazing entries! The children had to draw a picture celebrating Lichfield district. The winners will have their work made into a bill board in The Spires Shopping Centre while the building work for the new cinema is going on next year! How exciting it would be if we had a winner! Fingers and toes crossed everyone!

Thursday 12 December 2024 KS1 Christmas Carol Concert 2024 Key Stage 1 held their Christmas performance and it was an amazing success! The children were amazing! Well done some super singing and great readers! Well done to all the family members who joined in singing at the end! Thank you

Wednesday 11 December 2024 Autumn Music concert Our Autumn Music concert with Mr Dean our music specialist who has been working with Mrs Barnes (Year 2 ) and Mrs Surplice's (Year 5/6) classes this term. The Year 5/6 were on the steel drums and the Year 2 were playing the glockenspiels. Their playing and singing was amazing! The last song had the staff in tears xx We are very proud of how well they performed. Well done!
